What is happening with the EU's chat control?

In a few years—or perhaps sooner—the EU will gain access to encrypted information. While preventing criminal activity is fundamentally a good thing, placing everyone under blanket suspicion and undermining security mechanisms across the board is not the right approach. I run my own Matrix server, and by using the Element X client, I retain local sovereignty over my data, keeping it protected from unauthorised access.
